Visa Stamping Passport

Many people do a change of status in the US and then wonder if they really need to go to the US Consulate in their home country in order to get the actual visa stamp. Often, it is very expensive and time-consuming to fly all the way back to Asia when one has the option of going to a US Consulate in, say, Canada or Europe. Our Advice: If you have done a change of status from F-1 to O-1, it is much safer to return to your home country for the visa stamp.

Ballroom dancerGood News for Ballroom Dancers

The Vermont Service Center announced recently that ballroom dancers will be adjudicated under the O-1B arts criteria, which is good news for all our Latin/Ballroom dancers who want O-1 visas. For some time now, the Service has been placing these dancers in the more restrictive O-1A Athletics category.

Architect Approval

We are happy to report that another architect O-1 case filed by our office was approved in record time. Colombian architect, Julian Uribe, received his O-1 Approval in November 2016 after filing for a change of status from F-1. The case was filed in August 2016 using standard processing. Julian writes:

IMG_7189“After meeting with other lawyers who were not supportive or willing to take a look at my case for the O-1 visa, a friend, that had her O-1 approved, suggested I talk to Jane about my case. Jane was very honest and encouraging from the beginning. The case demanded a lot of work from both parties; despite having little time to prepare all my documents, the process was made straight-forward with Jane’s guidance, support, interest and meticulousness in how the information was presented. Her professionalism gave me confidence in having a positive outcome for my application. I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity of working with Jane and her team in my case and getting the O-1 visa approved.”
